The first ordinary meeting of the highest decision making body of UIMSA held on Saturday 4th of June 2022.
The Congress meeting started a few minutes after 10:00am with representatives from all classes present.
16 New co-opted Congress men and Congress women members were sworn in for the 2021/2022 session.
- 300 Level: Adedayo John, Aderohunmu Zainab, Eze Peace, Faeji Tobiloba, Obiwole Favour, Odusola Olamide, Alabi Oluwadamilare.
- 400 Level: Agboola Tomisin, Nosazeogie Daniel, Ogunlana Olaoluwaposi, Oyegbile Damola.
- 500 Level: Odukoya Gbemisola, Odunsi Temidayo, Ogundijo Deborah, Oyeniyi Anjolaoluwa.
- 600 Level: Bazuaye Oghogho.
An orientation on the effective use of the constitution and standing order (SOD) was given to the house by Dr. Obaitan Irete, she also encouraged ordinary members of the association to attend Congress meetings and make contributions to the matters of the association.
Immediately after the orientation, the year plans of the Executive council, Senate, DOKITA editorial board and UIMSA press organizations were presented and the state of association of NIMSA and FAMSA were also presented. The plans presented were all adopted by the Congress after they were thoroughly and soundly discussed.
The meeting went on to the last item on the agenda, AOB where Honourable Obeya brought up the matter of due payment. He stated that ordinary members of the association, congress men, and women should do more for the smooth running of the association by paying their dues on time. He would go on to pave the way for the passing of this motion. The motion was moved by Honourable Babalola and was passed by the house..
“The deadline for the mandatory payment of UIMSA dues by all UIMSAites (including but not restricted to those in clubs, the Press, and affiliate organizations of the Association), be Saturday, July 30, 2022, and failure to meet up with the stipulated deadline, would result in forfeiture of all UIMSA privileges, (which include but are not limited to: ability to represent UIMSA in any form; right to use resources of the Association; sponsorship at external and internal events by the Association, welfare packages, etc.)”
While Congress men and women are expected to pay their dues on or before June 30, 2022.
The meeting ended, mid-afternoon at around 2:30pm.
