News emerged on the 17th May, 2021 from several sources about plans of the University of Ibadan to resume physically. The senate is said to meet to discuss and make an official statement soon. The halls of residence will also be opened to students according to the reports.
It has been more than a year since the University of Ibadan fully opened its doors to her students. As the 2020/2021 first semester runs to an end, students are preparing for tests and exams, there could be no better gift to the students community who have been eagerly anticipating.
Uimsites are however waiting patiently to see how the news will affect the College of Medicine. The 600 level students who are currently allowed to stay in halls are preparing towards their final exams in the coming month. Other sets have been running their postings virtually.
The College of Medicine has been in constant communication with the students assuring them that they are doing everything they can to make sure they resume quickly and safely. However, they would still have to continue with their online classes for several reasons best known to them.
Uimsites have continued to cope through the several challenges associated with taking online classes in Nigeria and those specific to a clinical course like medicine. Opening back the college to students would be the expected response. One can only hope.
