As part of the University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association electoral process, the UIMSA Press organized the Press Night on Tuesday, 26th April 2022. Slated for 3 pm, the event kicked off at 3:05 pm at the Famewo Common Room, Alexander Brown Hall, UCH. It was moderated by the duo of Prosper Igbozurike and Onyinyechi Osisiogu, and the press night was chaired by a panel, which included an Honourary Pressman, Jummai Sadiku; UIMSA Clinical Press Editor-in-Chief, Emmanuel Metajuwa-Kuda; ABH Press Editor-in-chief, Jesujuwonlo Olawuyi and UCJUI Editor-in-Chief, Oluwatobi Odeyinka.
It went by the norm of the aspirants presenting their plans for the Association, while the panellists and other pressmen present scrutinized their plans, and asked suitable questions.
The Press Night had UIMSAites in attendance with the venue filled up, and as a hybrid one, those not physically present were able to join virtually. The Press Night came to an end a few minutes after 6 pm, with the UIMSA Clinical Press Editor-in-chief, Emmanuel Metajuwa-Kuda giving the closing remarks.
After the collation of the evaluation by the Pressmen, below are the points scored by the aspirants:
President: Eniola Akinnuoye — 75% Jaachimma Nwagbara — 81.6%
General Secretary: Maryam Odeleke — 71.9%
Assistant General Secretary: Olamide Jaiyeoba — 71%
Treasurer: Esther Olaoye — 61.2%
Public Relations Officer: Opeyemi Ilori — 72.1%
Special Duties Officer (Clinicals): Bolatito Babatunde — 68.9%
Special Duties Officer (Preclinicals): Mubarak Alimi — 58.6%, Collins Ijezie — 74.4%, Folusho Olu-Adegbola — 79.8%
