SUMMARY OF THE FIFTH EMERGENCY CONGRESS MEETING

A Decision has finally been made by the Congress.
The meeting started with opening statements from Hon. Obeya, the representative for the 2k19 majority leader and Hon. Olorunfemi, the President of UIMSA.
Hon. Obeya started his opening statement by making it clear that the 2k19 class was not here to attack the 2k18 class but rather, to demand that the President be set straight in respect to his attitude to the class at an online meeting that held to pacify tensions between the volleyball teams of the 2k18 and 2k19 class.
The tension between the teams was due to an Irregularities surrounding the official Walk over decision by the Sports committee at the Volleyball competition final.
Hon. Olorunfemi explained things from his point of view, giving a timeline of events leading up to the meeting with the 2k19 class. He would go on to point out the rude remarks some of the members of the 2k19 class made during the meeting and on that basis make it clear that he would not apologize to the 2k19 class for anything.
After valuable inputs from other Honourables and observers, two motions concerning the First agenda on the Fifth Emergency Congress Meeting were moved and to be voted for:
1a. The President apologize to the 2k19 consistency for his Dictatorial Tone and Action within 72 hours of the end of the meeting.
b. The 2k19 majority leader, apologize to Hon. Olorunfemi on behalf two 2k19 members that were rude to the president at the meeting within 72 hours of the end of the meeting.
c. The medals not be given to any class.
2a. The President apologize to the 2k19 constituency for his Dictatorial Tone and Action within 2weeks of the end of the meeting.
b. The 2k19 majority leader, apologize to Hon. Olorunfemi on behalf two 2k19 members that were rude to the president at the meeting within 2 weeks of the end of the meeting.
c. The medals be given to the First 2 best losers.
The vote ended with a tie, and the Congress chancellor made the tie breaker decision of picking Motion 1.
The 2k19 class were commended by Hon. Babalola for recognising the Congress and bringing the matter to the floor of the Congress.
After today’s meeting we can all agree that more of civil and democratic solutions concerning Interclass tensions should be encouraged. Whether or not the tensions between the 2k19 class and the president have dissipated still remain unanswered at this point.
