A country with a bright future is gone
Neighbours cried, why didn’t she go by the trigger of a gun
Education has been so worried about her lost,
Pen and eraser have turned best of friends just for her death
Tables and chairs are shaking because those who warm them are gone.

Shame on the architect
Shame on the contractor
Shame on those who had a hand in what eventually became this eyesore and heartache
Shame above all to those who ought to handle it but failed to.

The future will build a golden castle for your remembrance.
Playing grounds will always stay silent for your absence,
School buses will not move away from your abode
School bells will not ring just to prevent your ghost from coming
Cartoon industries will keep your favourites in their archive.

I hope they rest in peace
Remember the pupils of Ita Faji, Lagos, Nigeria.
